Our Story
Adaptive Minds Coaching was founded on a simple belief: every child deserves individualized support, every family deserves to feel heard, and exceptional services begin with exceptional people.

As Co-Founders, Edward (Eddie) Atanasoff and Andreea Capanu combined their unique backgrounds to create an organization that supports families through every step of their Autism Waiver journey. Eddie brings more than 20 years of experience in special education and Maryland's Autism Waiver Program, while Andreea contributes extensive expertise in organizational leadership, operations, and building family-centered systems that make services more accessible and responsive.
Together, they envisioned an agency where families receive not only high-quality services, but also clear communication, reliable support, and professionals who genuinely care about each child's growth and success.
Today, Adaptive Minds Coaching proudly serves children and young adults throughout Maryland by providing individualized Autism Waiver services that build independence, strengthen families, and create meaningful opportunities for learning and community participation.

Andreea Capanu
Co-Founder & Managing Director
Andreea Capanu is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Adaptive Minds Coaching. She oversees all administrative, managerial, financial, and operational aspects of the organization, ensuring that families receive compassionate, high-quality, and individualized support throughout their Autism Waiver journey.

An economist by training, Andreea brings more than 15 years of leadership, management, and recruitment experience from international development programs. At Adaptive Minds Coaching, Andreea is passionate about building strong teams, creating thoughtful systems, and ensuring that every family receives responsive, organized, and compassionate support from their very first interaction with the agency. She believes that when families feel informed, supported, and heard, they can focus on what matters most—their child's growth, independence, and long-term success.

Eddie Atanasoff
Co-Founder & PrograM Director
Edward (Eddie) Atanasoff is the Co-Founder and Program Director of Adaptive Minds Coaching. He oversees all programmatic, quality assurance, and service delivery aspects of the organization's Autism Waiver Program, ensuring that every family receives individualized, high-quality services that support meaningful growth and positive outcomes.

With more than 20 years of experience in special education, Eddie has dedicated his career to supporting children and young adults on the autism spectrum. His extensive experience within Maryland's Autism Waiver Program has provided him with a deep understanding of individualized supports, community-based programming, and the importance of building strong partnerships with families.
In addition to his leadership role at Adaptive Minds Coaching, Eddie serves as a Special Education Teacher with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in the Comprehensive Autism Preschool Program (CAPP), where he works with preschool children with autism during some of the most important years of their development. The CAPP program is designed to help young children develop foundational communication, social-emotional, behavioral, play, and early learning skills through individualized, evidence-based instruction and close collaboration with families. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams has given Eddie invaluable experience in early intervention and reinforced his belief that the right supports during the preschool years can have a lasting impact on a child's future.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Eddie's work is partnering with families and watching children gain the skills and confidence to become more independent over time. His experience across both school and community settings allows him to help families connect what children are learning in the classroom with meaningful opportunities at home and in the community, creating consistency across the environments where children learn and grow.
Â
Mr. Atanasoff holds a Master's degree in Early Childhood Special Education from Johns Hopkins University and brings both his educational expertise and daily classroom experience to every family served by Adaptive Minds Coaching.
