About the Role

A participant’s family shall receive in-person, individualized consultation when providing the habilitation services listed here, as necessary for the participant.

(1) Habilitation.
(2) Self-Direction.
(3) Behavior Shaping and Management.
(4) Daily Living Skills.
(5) Socialization.
(6) Mobility.
(7) Money Management.

Requirements

A family consultant shall be:

  • Certified in accordance with COMAR 13A.12.01 as a psychologist, special educator, or speech therapist;

  • Licensed as a psychologist, certified social worker, nurse psychotherapist, speech therapist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or occupational therapist;

  • Nationally certified as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst;

  • An individual with a master's or doctorate degree from an accredited university in special education or a related field and have at least 5 years experience providing training or consulting in the area of autism spectrum disorder; AND at least 2 years of experience which is relevant to the family’s needs related to behavior intervention or how to keep the child safe in the home environment, and related to providing services to children with autism spectrum disorder as a service provider or as a family member.
